Pencil cases used to be something that we got new at the beginning of the school year. Not whole wardrobes, just a pencil case...
I have been stepping up the amount of drawing I have been doing lately as well as observing the cool pencil cases I see on the internet. I think I need one of those now. So after a little pattern drawing, away I went.
You can see that I prequilted the sides and ends. The side piece has stripey fabric put on to both ends like binding on a quilt.
Zipper in and ends trimmed. I left the seams raw with zigzag overedge stitching to keep them from fraying.
This is a blog about quilting and my creative life. I am mostly a quilter but I do dabble in all things crafty from time to time which is probably why I have such a pile of UFOs

Plate Pockets
I am lucky enough to have two sets of dishes. One for summer and one for winter. The ones in storage are always in danger -- yes real danger of being chipped, dropped or just messed up with the usual dust issues. I started thinking I would look for a pattern for some sort of cover up for them....
Then I just decided to design it myself. Leftovers from other projects and bits of batting....
I also wanted to experiment with invisible zippers as I had just seen a sewing show on TV about putting them in with your regular sewing foot.
TaDaaa...
I am really happy with the plate ones. I wonder if I can manage to make some for soup bowls and saucers.

My Amy Butler Weekender
I acquired the pattern for this Amy Butler wonder shortly after it came out a few years ago. I went straight on and made this bag. I love it.
I am seeing it in lots of other people's blogs and I thought I should show off my early efforts.
The instructions were so well done that I didn't make one mis-step. It's a very useful size for real travel. I only wish I could figure out a way to make the bag itself lighter - without sacrificing stiffness...
Watch for my next blog to see what I used to stuff the bag with for shape holding purposes...

My sister's new phone cover
This turned out really well I think. I followed the tutorial from Fairy Face Designs. The back is cute too.
My sister says she is happy with it and that is what counts in the end.

My Purse within My Purse
This is the problem.
I am a bit of a purse-a-holic and I like to change which one I am carrying at a moments notice. The problem is all the stuff that hangs around at the bottom of my bag. So here is my solution.

I used that super heavy interfacing that is iron-on on both sides for the centre velcro pocket and added the divided pockets to the outside of the 'bag' so everything is accessible. I will try is this weekend and see how it goes.
Now I can slip my real wallet and this mini purse from one bag to the other quickly and easily.

Republican...
The Republican Bag
My DH found this fabric while we were in the states and insisted that I must make a new flap for my sisters wheelchair bag. I tried to girl it up with the ruffles and it's actually sideways. (Now that the pic is here I can't seem to re-orientate it.)
