Little Step Stones

I am still plugging along slowly on this little stepping stone one but I love it.
I'm guessing it will become my DH's fav one so far with all that orange in it.

Next step on the Twinkle Toes Table Runner

The block I made from Le Ann Weaver's design in Loose Change is pretty straight forward.  I like her directions.  No wasted energy and perfect every time.  I like to square up each block as I make them and I really like that she tells what size that would be.  I often find myself searching for that info when I follow other patterns.

So here I am...
8 blocks done and already I am going my own way, rearranging them...
Hmmm...then I tried this...
Not liking the zigzag so much.  Very chunky looking, don't you think...
Now this is the design in the book.  I like it = = but...my table is narrow and I will have room for 3 rows of the block so I changed my mind again...
So this is the one I like the best.  What do you think?

Loose Change and a New Table Runner

Claudia Plett, Le Ann Weaver

So I got my hands on Claudia Plett and Le Ann Weaver's book, Loose Change, Quilts from Nickels, Dimes, and Fat Quarters.  Very inspiring, indeed.  Here's the pattern I like...

You start with some half square triangles and plain squares .... I am thinking of my hall table which needs somewhere for the keys to land.  Blues is always good, right?

A Slight Detour

Here I am going off the trail again...do you see a rabbit?

green, pink, blue, embroidery floss

First I was tempted by some beautiful floss, and inspired by some lovely flower wreaths made by others -- I think I can do this...here's the sketch

embroidery pattern, flowers,

I was looking at the July/Aug 2012 of Quiltmaker magazine, and I saw the pillow designed by Kellie Wulfson.  I love her work.
I thought I would try designing my own version. So with a tip of the hat to Kellie here's how min is shaping up

Hot off the presses ( with a wrench)

I just saw this post in my reader and was mesmerized by this old quilt.  Had to do some sketching... I'm calling it a monkey wrench design.

Ok, I should tell you that the old quilt is.  It is pictured and owned now by Church Avenue quilts.  I realize that I love quilts without sashing a lot.  It is so interesting how the pattern of the block can play off it's neighbour's.

Now what's on the design Wall...

This was a block I first saw on Lori Holt's Bee in My Bonnet, Barn-along  Her's is more flower-like but I was looking through some old quilting mags and saw it again and again - well I had to try it.  So here it is on the old design wall looking spiffy.

The block is 12 1/2 inches square.  The component small sections are all 4 1/2 inches square so it was pretty straight forward.  The corner square in a square is made with one brown square 3 3/8 inches and the corner triangles are the diagonal cut of a 3 inch square.

A new Quilt Along

I saw this new quilt along.  It is so cute.  I especially like the black in the blocks.  I would probably use lighter colours but this is great.  And who doesn't need more accuracy in their quilting....

Here's the link to Michele Foster's great quilt

Maybe I won't be the only one following...huh?

I will leave you with a look out my hotel window in London, UK.
