Finished 100 Modern Blocks

I am pretty pumped!  I finished the last of my 100 Modern Quilt Blocks from the book by Tula Pink.

I precut the individual blocks and laid them out on my handy graph paper pad and scribbled on numbers so as not to get them confused. ;)

Then laid them out carefully - ok, I will admit there was some ripping out going on.  Hey, the blocks just look better when the fabric is in the right order....

And so it went.  I now have a lovely pile of 100 blocks - now for figuring out the quilt layout.

I have been bitten by the follow along bug and am working hard on the Modern Blocks by Tula Pink.  They are quite fun and addictive.

Did I mention that there are a few blocks from the Splendid Sampler QAL?

I like the book and how the blocks are illustrated.  Easy to work with.

Double T Blocks

This is soooo clever.  Check out Anita Grossman Solomon at Make it Simpler.  She shows how to make this block in the latest Quiltmaker magazine.

Unveiling the finished Coffee Mug Quilt

I like this more every time I see it.  My DH says, 'very orange' but he was smiling I think...

I did a simple machine quilting finish with slightly wobbly vertical lines 1/2"-3/4" spacing.

The binding is done by doing each side separately so it was easy to make the bottom blue to match the border.

Flimsy Done of Little Stepping Stones

Looks at this, with the input of my DH I finally got some borders on this one and I'm reallly happy with the result.  I even patched on the backing...

As my sister always says, 'Red is best...'

Backside of the Frontside

I love when the back looks as neat and tidy as the front.  Well maybe I like it because it shows off how much stitching I did...

Progress on my Wheel Around Blocks

I am really liking how this block is going together.  I am using the set of fat quarters I got from Sew Sisters a couple of months ago and they are wonderful.

Here's how it starts. ( I am using a scrapbooking case to store the blocks as they are 12 1/2 inches square )

And...

Then I sew the triangles on all four sides of of the corner squares...

After pressing the seams open I have the corners for two blocks...

And Voila!

I haven't decided if there will be sashing or not.  Then I saw on the cover of a Fons and Porter Magazine that Mary Fons had done this block on point...hmmm....

Hot off the presses ( with a wrench)

I just saw this post in my reader and was mesmerized by this old quilt.  Had to do some sketching... I'm calling it a monkey wrench design.

Ok, I should tell you that the old quilt is.  It is pictured and owned now by Church Avenue quilts.  I realize that I love quilts without sashing a lot.  It is so interesting how the pattern of the block can play off it's neighbour's.

What's on my Design Wall

I took these blocks out again and made another one.  I've been a bit aimless so I thought I needed to remind myself of the projects waiting for my attention.

This will be bright I think, hmmm.... But I like it.

Baskets for the Row Along

I must soon be done.  But here is the next row.

As you know I am following the row along at Bee in my Bonnet.  I love her instructions.  Easy peasy.

I have been following Bee in my Bonnet's Row Along and I am really liking it.  So this row is houses as you can see.

Row Along

So I visited Bee in my Bonnet's blog and was totally seduced by her cute row along.

I think this is row four.  Ok, not, it's row two.  I am using the fabric that the Sew Sisters sent me last month as part of their bargain club.  each row goes to gether well with Lori's straightforward instructions.
