New iPad Covers

I had company last week and it was my darling sister.  She has one of those ipad minis. I had made a cover for it back when she got it a year or so ago.  It was in sad shape as she uses it all the time.  Course her ipad is in lovely shape because she uses it all the time....

Here's her new cover.  Just like the old one down to the pocket which I enlarged a bit by request.  I hope she likes this one.

Then my son came along with a request for a cover for his larger ipad.

I made it in a similar style - no pocket tho - and then I got creative with the stitches on my Bernina and finished the very edge with a square decorative stitch.  As it went over the edge and the interfacing is white and thick there is a neat pattern of black stitched holding it all together.

Ipad Stand with Bean bag

I found a pattern for an ipad stand tutorial that appealed to me but it was fairly large so I modified the pattern.  I cut my pretty fabric 14 1/2" by 10 1/2"

Then I found some cardboard from a discarded game, cut out the size it printed at which was smaller than she used in her larger version. The cardboard was 6 3/4 across the wide end and 3 1/2 on the top.

Then using my cardboard as a pattern I cut some muslin( folded on the wide end) about 1/2 inch bigger all around and made it into a bean bag.

It looks lumpy because I used Lima beans (not too popular in my house so a good way to recycle them)

Then I folded the pretty fabric as in the tutoial.  As my fabric was directional, I made sure I sewed across the owls heads and left the end with their feet open.

I'm not saying what the stitch ripper was there for.... :(

It all went together beautifully, the button was sewn into place...

The big Ta-da.  Thank you TeresaDownUnder

ps. I also saw this on youtube for a cheap travel friendly one.

Ok, another Tablet Cover - for my Daughter

Further to my sister's comments, yes, I guess I did forget to blog about the ipad cover I made for my daughter and her kids.

pink ipad case

I got her to trace the kids feet and then just straight-stitch appliqued them onto the sandwich.  I chose mostly pink fabric because it is a very popular colour in her house.

Their feet were actually bigger than I expected and pretty much covered the entire cover so I reduced them to about 65% on my scanner and used the smaller sizes.
Cute, huh?

iPad cover for my neighbour

My neighbour gets the dark navy one.  The fabric is wonderful swirly and subtle.  Not too clear here.  The pink one was for my daughter's ipad and became the pattern for this simple case.
