iPad cover

New iPad in my life.  It must be covered...

So I used this Jinny Beyer fabric I have been saving.  Worked like a charm, I just made sure the tablet is snug inside there and the friction fit does not require a flap or button closure.  Sweet deal.

I made it in the same fashion as the reader covers.  I use the super heavy 2mm thick interfacing that is fusible on both sides.  Then I sew two pieces of fabric together on the long edge and fuse them to the interfacing making sure a bit of the lining shows on the outside.  I just straight stitch the two sides closed making the fit tighter and tighter until the tablet slides out but doesn't fall out.  Finally I zigzagged very narrowly along the same two edges.  Slick!

It has gotten me a few compliments and my DH thinks he will make me a nice wooden stand for all the hard core video watching....

Quilting...Quilting....Quilting...

There it is... moved to the dining room table for the big finish.  Then lots of work...The Machingers are marvellous.

Yes more apple-y goodness....

And then the border.  I used a puffy polyester bat so to tame and contain it, I did some straight line sewing to outline areas and then I put on the binding.  It worked well and sure made it easier to get the carcass in and out from under the foot.

Flowering Laurel steaming along

Speaking of steaming that may be the next step to make all the appliques look smooth and finished.

This is block number 10 - I thought it was nine and I was going to quit there but now I have ten which begs for 2 more to make 12 right.  How's my math today.  Solid I think.

This is a set of blocks I have been working on for quite a while.  The pattern is in the November 2004 issue of Quilter's Newsletter Magazine.  I usually carry a block with me when we travel.

The Row Along is Basted

My DH helped me out this morning and we spray basted the layers together on the basement floor.  It worked really well.  Quick too.  Especially with the help.

Row Along, Row quilting, butterflies, baskets.
 One step closer to DONE!

My Turtle Pincushion

Yes, I am easily distracted.  But,  but... look what I made...

pincushion

This is great Heather Bailey pattern  I got on a trip south.

The instructions were straight forward and it went together in a few hours.

Attaching the legs to the underbelly was easy (see the felt pen dots)  It was those pointy bits on each end that proved a bit slippery.  Still not hard.

Making those v-clips was a pain but worth the effort.

Ta Da!! isn't she cute.  Although I see now I may have forgotten to put the french knots on for her eyes....  I think I can't call her Henrietta, though what a mouthful.  Any ideas??

Row Along still coming along

I think Lori has more rows in the row along but I think I am quitting here.

I thought I would show all my pressed open seams.  I think I will do straight line stitching for the quilting lines so the pressed open seams make a smoother top.
