Handkerchiefs by Hand

My son works outside in all weather and we have been getting some cold stuff.  He decided he would like some cloth handkerchiefs.  We looked on line and they were surprisingly expensive.  Lo and behold, I had some lovely lawn fabric in a nice check.  He's happy they are not white.

But I went a step further...

I am hand hemming them for him.  I think it is a really nice finish and it is easy to do while I watch TV...

I watched Amy Wright's video .  It's very easy to follow and quite clever.  I'm sure I would not have thought of this on my own.  With the lines of the check it is even easier to be straight.

Delightful Star Blocks QAL

Don't they look nice?  My points are great, if I do say so and pressing the seams open makes the blocks really flat.

Here's last week's block:

And now together...

Unveiling the finished Coffee Mug Quilt

I like this more every time I see it.  My DH says, 'very orange' but he was smiling I think...

coffee cup

I did a simple machine quilting finish with slightly wobbly vertical lines 1/2"-3/4" spacing.

The binding is done by doing each side separately so it was easy to make the bottom blue to match the border.

Alphabet Blocks

I had this idea to make my own alphabet designs.  So I sketched what I wanted on paper and started printing out the patterns.  I quickly realized that I need them all mirror image so the letters wouldn't be backwards.  (How did I find that out??? you ask... Thank goodness 'L' is quick and easy to piece...)

I've been using these as my warm up, trying to make two each time I go to the sewing room... It's coming along....

Flimsy Done of Little Stepping Stones

Looks at this, with the input of my DH I finally got some borders on this one and I'm reallly happy with the result.  I even patched on the backing...

As my sister always says, 'Red is best...'
