Friday finish of Aprons

These aprons turned out so well.

I think the little one is tiny.  My husband wanted to know if it was for a doll.  It is only 13 inches from top to bottom but that is what Melanie asked for...

Friday baking with Meyer lemons

I purchased a bag of Meyer lemons from the local Co-op store.  They were beautifully done up in bags and came all the way from New Zealand.  How could I say no.  Then I began searching for a recipe for a cake....

Here's what I made...
Tastes as good as it looks.  It didn't stay whole long.
If you'd like the recipe leave a comment and I will email it to you.

More Apron posts

I just take a bit of time every day or two and do a little bit on this project...
This is for the littlest girl...sooo cute....

And this is for big sister...

Back to the Little Apron Project

The cuteness continues.  Me being me I have to change up every pattern so these little aprons will be a variation on the one Melanie had in mind.  Shhh, I'll tell her later...
OK, so the parts are cut out exactly like the one I am copying but who knows from here.

More Little Apron Project

This is such a cute project.  I spent some time pressing a starching the fabric Melanie and I bought at Jo-Ann's.  What could be cuter than wise owls for little girls cooking.

So I cut the skirts and started playing with the trim...

Little Twinkly Stars - Part 2

I managed to sew a few of the star quarters together today and look what I got...

The Big Tada ( well medium sized anyways) - Part 3

My DD is even more darling as she was absolutely right!  The green looks great and I may even get around to quilting this one.  At least the top is done.

Little Twinkly Stars - Part 1

Also going on in my sewing room are some paper pieced star blocks.

They are a fun little side project that sits by the machine.  When I only have a few minutes of sewing time I pick them up for a few quick seams.

Past Glories - Part 2

quilt top red green hand applique
My DD made some great suggestions on how to improve on this one to push it a little closer to completion.  This block had a pale blue (with birds) border to match the interior of the medallion...she deemed it unworthy and then obligingly unstitched it from it's spot....She said the border should match the tiny green check you can see the the left of this block...More sewing later....

UFO revealed - Part 1

I have been busy with visits from my DD who normally resides in Regina, an 8 hour drive from here.  She is very persistent (in a good way) at getting me to look at what has come before.  Mainly quilts of course.

In the early 2000's I started doing Hawaiian quilting.  I loved doing the applique so much but not being able to leave well enough alone I had to change it up...
hand applique, Hawaiian style, red, pink, green
These were very satisfying.  But... I got really confident.  Both of these smaller wall hangings I cut out in the traditional way but pretty soon I branched out more and more...  to be continued

The Little Apron Project

apron
Is this a cute apron or what?  So practical.  My cousin Melanie gave this to me as a challenge to produce a couple of special aprons for two little girls.  This is one she had and liked so I wrote down the recipe.

green blue owls fabric for aprons
This very same cousin took me on an extended shopping trip across the border last month and we got these sweet fabrics.  I am not sure how they will go together but...
Let's see, my DD says that the solid is too strong a contrast...
Melanie says it might be more girly without the solid....

What do you think??
